Whose Mirror?

Girls of all ages, perhaps we should consider spending more time peering into the MIRROR OF GOD'S WORD (and less time in the mirror of our bathrooms).  Of course, there's nothing wrong with checking ourselves out (we don't want to scare anybody)...but hey, it can be a most dangerous past time when that becomes our only focus.  The outer 'image'.

What happens when we gaze upon The Eternal Word of El Elyon instead?  What happens if we set before our eyes The Living Word?  Whatever image(s) we set before our eyes becomes our focus...even if it's yourself(-ie).  If you can't seem to maintain an inner joy - a heavenly validation from on High - without the aid of cosmetics or enough 'likes' on your FB selfie, it's only because your inner man is being starved, unadorned, and in need of MORE.  Much more.  To need validation from others is to need their approval.  The thing is, we've already been approved from Someone much higher and more important than a million 'likes'.  This unholy need that may have drawn you away from the Truth that satisfies and reveals is called 'a snare' in the Scriptures.

Proverbs 29:25 - NAS – The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted.
Proverbs 29:25 - BHS – חֶרְדַּ֣ת אָ֭דָם יִתֵּ֣ן מֹוקֵ֑שׁ וּבֹוטֵ֖חַ בַּיהוָ֣ה יְשֻׂגָּֽב׃

Earthly mirrors are traps, baits, lures, snares (moqesh in Hebrew).  The Heavenly Mirror LIBERATES in ways you can't even imagine.  The Word sets us free from vices we weren't even aware had taken us captive.

F-O-C-U-S.  What happens when we focus upon The Word breathed out by ADONAI Himself is gloriously transformational. We begin to learn by His Spirit to neither LOATHE (cast down) ourselves nor ELEVATE (exalt) ourselves - both of which plague the soul.

This is a problem for women and has been since The Garden.  The eyes.  The serpent who diligently observes his prey knows that if he can tempt us by setting ANYTHING OTHER THAN GOD'S TRUTH before our eyes, he'll likely be very successful.  The eyes have it.

Just like putting certain things into our mouths has the capability to alter our physical appearance (whether good or bad).  So too, will putting certain things into our minds alter our physical, emotional and spiritual DIRECTION in life (whether good or bad).

That word again, F-O-C-U-S.  When Christ, The Living Word, is at the center, you'll have:

Freedom, Opportunity --------  CHRIST -------- Unity and Satisfaction

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. ~ Romans 12:2

I should say that having young teen girls of my own has prompted a similar conversation in our home recently. Love these young ladies!

But as for me, Heaven forbid that I should boast about anything except the execution-stake of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah! Through Him, as far as I am concerned, the world has been put to death on the stake; and through Him, as far as the world is concerned, I have been put to death on the stake.  For neither being circumcised nor being uncircumcised matters; what matters is being a NEW CREATION. And as many as order their lives by this rule, shalom upon them and mercy, and upon the Isra'el of God!
