IF we understood that the New Testament writers ASSUMED all readers already knew (& were rooted to some degree) in The Torah, well, we’d have a MUCH CLEARER VISION of THIS GOOD NEWS! When Rabbi Sha’ul (Paul) told his disciple Timothy:
10But you, you have closely followed my teaching, conduct, purpose in life, trust, steadfastness, love and perseverance - 11as well as the persecutions and sufferings that came my way in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12And indeed, all who want to live a godly life united with the Messiah Yeshua will be persecuted, 13while evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived themselves. 14But you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, recalling the people from whom you learned it; 15and recalling too how from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which can give you the wisdom that leads to deliverance through trusting in Yeshua the Messiah. 16All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living;17thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work. ~ 2 Timothy 3 (CJB)
…he assumed ALL DISCIPLES-IN-TRAINING already understood (because there was no ‘new testament’ at that time), that THE GOD-BREATHED SCRIPTURE he was referring to was, indeed, The TANAKH (Torah, Nevi'im, Ketuvim =>> Torah, Prophets, Wisdom Literature).
Even Yeshua, The Living Torah, Himself told the two on the road to Amma’us (Emmaus):
27 And [n] beginning with Moses (Torah!) and all the Prophets (Nevi'im!), He interpreted to them in all the Scriptures (Tanakh!) the things concerning Himself. ~ Luke 24 (CJB)
Together in the Holy Spirit, we seek to understand...For the Fullness of the Gentiles!
